How DeadlineMind handles your data

Plain-language summary of what we collect, who we share it with, and the rights you keep over it. Branded processor names will appear here in the production pass.

  1. Information we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to power DeadlineMind — the academic protection platform that catches every deadline and protects your grades.

    • Account email — used to sign you in and reach you about service-critical notices (subscription receipts, security alerts).
    • Password hash — stored in hashed form; the plaintext is never retained on our servers.
    • Canvas LMS token — only if you choose to connect a Canvas account; lets us read the assignments and grade entries you have authorized.
    • Assignment and grade data — the assignments, due dates, and grades you enter or sync from Canvas.
    • Aggregated usage telemetry — anonymized counts of features used to prioritize product work.
  2. Third-party processors

We share specific data with carefully selected processors so the service runs smoothly. The current categories of processors are:

    • Authentication provider — handles sign-in and session integrity.
    • Payments processor — Stripe, used for Pro plan billing (see the $5/mo Pro plan on /pricing). We never see or store your card number.
    • Canvas API gateway — forwards your authorized requests to read assignments and grades from your Canvas instance.
    • Error tracking provider — receives crash reports and frontend errors so we can fix them quickly.
    • Email delivery provider — sends transactional emails (sign-in links, receipts, security notices).
    • Hosting provider — runs the application servers and databases.

Brand names for each category will be confirmed before launch; the legal production pass substitutes them in place.

  3. Your rights

You can exercise the following rights over your data at any time:

    • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
    • Correction — fix any inaccuracies in your account or grade records.
    • Export — download your assignments, grades, and account data in a portable format.
    • Deletion — request that we erase the data tied to your account, subject to legal retention obligations.
    • Account termination — close your account from settings, ending all future data collection.

To exercise any of these rights, send a request to our contact channel above. We acknowledge requests within a reasonable timeframe and complete verified requests within the period required by applicable law.
